What is a Clamshell Heat Press?
A clamshell heat press is the most widely sold and used heat press style in Uganda. It is named for the way the upper platen (the heated surface) opens and closes on a fixed hinge at the rear — just like a clamshell opening. When closed, both platens press together in a flat, parallel plane to transfer designs onto the substrate beneath.

- Open and peel — Open the press, remove the garment, and peel the carrier film (hot peel or cold peel depending on the transfer type)
